Windows 11 Installation Process


** This process is best completed after the workday is complete as it can take at least 1-2 hours to complete **

 

  • Save ALL work and close ALL applications that you have opened before proceeding to the next step 


  • Click the start button in the bottom right corner of the desktop, then click the Settings option (gear icon) just above.

  • In the next window, click the Update & Security option

  • Click the Check for Updates box at the top of the page

  • Once it has finished scanning, you should see that there is a Windows 11 update available. Click the "Download and install" link to begin the upgrade. ***Please ensure this is done at the end of the workday to prevent downtime***

  • Depending on individual internet speeds, the download and installation of Windows 11 may vary. Please allow at least 1-2 hours for this process to be completed. Once the installation has been completed, your laptop will request a restart.

  • Proceed by clicking the Restart now button. The laptop will continue to install Windows 11 for another 30 minutes on average before presenting you with the Windows login screen. The Windows 11 installation process is now complete, please proceed to login with your NetID and password.
