2. Next you will need to download the appropriate driver(s). In order to do this you will need to know which OS your mac is using. To find this out you can select the Apple menu icon in the upper-left corner of your screen, and choose About this Mac. Here you will find your macOS information. Once you have found which OS your mac is using- select the Driver Link for the printer you are trying to connect to, in the table above. (Please see bolded notes below on how to navigate each driver website).

If there is a broken link- please notify QHS IT by emailing and we will update the links accordingly.

3. Once you have opened the link, follow these steps based on which Model of printer you are connecting to:

- For Canon Printers: Select your OS in the "your operating systems" drop down. The first link under Individual drivers (should include Printer Driver & Utilities for Mac in the title). Select the Download button.

- For Sharp Printers: Select your OS from the list. On the next page, under Printer Driver- select the highlighted Mac PS Driver

- For Kyocera Printers: Scroll down until you see "We have detected your Operating System". This should be set to Apple, if it isn't- select the drop down and select it. The driver you will be the top selection labeled Mac Print Driver

- For Xerox Printers: You will see several drop downs under "Drivers & Downloads"- change the Platform dropdown to your current OS. Select Apply Filters. The top option should populate a macOS Print and Scan Driver Installer. Select I agree to the Terms and Conditions and select Download.

- For HP Printers: This website should detect your OS but if it doesn't automatically, beside the picture of the printer there should be an option to "Choose a different OS". You can adjust this to whichever OS you are on. After you are on your OS page- It may try to get you to download their application- you can ignore this section- select the "+" symbol on the Driver section- you will download the HP easy Start driver. Select the Download button.

4. After downloaded- run the .pkg file, and follow the instructions presented in the setup.

If you have any issues with this process, please contact QHS IT by emailing or calling (613)533-6909 and we can assist you with this process.

5. Next, go to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners > Add (+).

6. Next we will need to select the Advanced icon to your toolbar.

- If you already have the Advanced icon- skip ahead to step 7).

- If you do not have the Advanced icon: Secondary click (or control + primary click) in the grey top of the pane (in the area where Fax, IP, Windows, Default and a search bar may appear). Select Customize Toolbar (pictured below).

- Drag the Advanced item (displayed as a gear) into a space in the top of the toolbar. After the Advanced icon has been added, select Done.

7. Select the Advanced icon. You will need to refer to the chart above to find the printer name for filling in the following bolded information:

Type: Windows Printer via spools

URL: smb://

Use: Select the dropdown. Select the appropriate driver that you just downloaded from the list. See the

Model and Driver Link column of the chart above if you can't remember the name of the driver you need.

Depending on your OS and the printer type- there may be additional accepting popups to finish adding the printer. Accept these.

8. Test Print: Open a document you would like to print. You will need to enter your macbook login username and password (not your net id- but the username and password you use to log into your computer).

If you have any issues with these steps, have any questions, or if unsuccessful- please reach out to us by emailing or calling (613)533-6909.
